Vancity Shred-a-thon

By choosing to protect your privacy and bring your documents to Vancity Credit Union’s 7th annual Shred- a- thon at the Mission Junction, you helped the staff raise $2500 for the Women’s Resource Society’s programs for women, youth and children! Thanks to Urban Impact Shredding systems who destroyed your documents and then recycled them with Urban Impact Recycling. Many thanks also to the local businesses who supported the Vancity team while promoting this event!

MOVE Fraser Valley

Move is a fashion movement held in May in Abbotsford, British Columbia. All participants volunteered their time through music, food, modeling, photography, videography, organization and planning. The auction items were all donated so that the maximum amount of proceeds would go towards the programs and services for women, youth and children provided by the Women's Resource Society of the Fraser Valley http://www.wrsfv.ca/

The Women’s Resource Society would like to send a huge congratulations and thank you for a job well done to Chantel Funk of Chantel Funk Designs and her team for a wonderful inaugural event that raised over $4200 for the society. We look forward to next year’s event already slated for Friday May 29, 2015!

Mt. Lehman Winery Fundraiser

The 2nd ever Connecting Worlds, Supporting Women fundraiser was held at the stunning Mt. Lehman Winery on August 21, 2013. This jewelry, wine and cheese soiree was a huge success!  Together we raised over $19,700 for the Women's Resource Society of the Fraser Valley’s (WRSFV) program for street entrenched women called the Warm Zone.  A special thanks to everyone involved, the hosts Vern and Charleen Siemens and to Twigz Creations for sharing their gorgeous hand crafted jewelry.  The staff at the WRSFV and in particular the women of the Warm Zone are truly ecstatic over the community support.  Your generous individual contributions and the many business donations assisted in exceeding last year’s numbers.  To learn more about these local businesses please visit their websites!

Rockin' River Music Fest

The 2013 Rockin’ River Music Fest was a blast!  The Women's Resource Society's dedicated volunteers  worked hard around the clock.  Volunteers were once again accepting donations while escorting drivers who were transporting guests on the festival grounds on 'people Movers.'   A huge thank you to Kenny Hess and the show coordinators for another great Mission weekend filled with talented rock and country artists. The festival's support for this community is overwhelming and enables the WRSFV and many other local non profit organizations to increase awareness about the work they do and 'ride along' with you.

Keep Calm and Country on folks!

Thank you Magnusson Ford

The team at Magnusson Ford on South Fraser way in Abbotsford proudly supported the Women’s Resource Society and the Sparkle Project with a Drive a Ford event on Saturday October 25 (2014). The rainy Saturday brought in many dedicated community members to test drive a Ford while supporting two important organizations that encourage and empower women young and old.

We are proud to partner with you and appreciate your commitment to the community, and support of our clients.

The dedicated staff and management of the Mission Shoppers Drug Mart selected the Women's Resource Society of the Fraser Valley (WRSFV) again in 2013 as their favorite charity for the national 'Tree of Life Campaign.' The WRSFV is the grateful recipient of $1,644.

The campaign begins each year in September and wraps up mid October at all Shoppers Drug Mart Locations across Canada. Employees and customers have the opportunity to donate by purchasing a leaf, a butterfly or a cardinal in various denominations in support of various
women's organizations that promote and support health initiatives. It is then added to a branch on the 'Tree of Life' displayed in each store. “The Mission location always goes above and beyond for the women and children who use our services. We are honored to have their ongoing support” said Sandra Papageorgiou, Resource Development Coordinator. Thank you Shoppers Drug Mart for raising over 2.9 million dollars this year alone in support of women's initiatives nationally.
